Store Rules/Policies

Right to Refuse Service Policy

Mox Archives and Games is a privately owned business committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for customers, staff, and community members. In accordance with Massachusetts law, we reserve the right to refuse service, deny access, or remove individuals from our premises under appropriate circumstances.

Legal Authority

Under Massachusetts General Laws, including but not limited to M.G.L. c. 266, § 120 (Trespass) and applicable common law principles, the owner or authorized agent of a private business open to the public may lawfully refuse service or require an individual to leave the premises.

This right is exercised so long as refusal of service is not based on a protected characteristic under federal or Massachusetts anti-discrimination laws, including M.G.L. c. 151B.

Protected classes under Massachusetts law include, but are not limited to: race, color, religious creed, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, ancestry, marital status, military status, and other classifications protected by law.

Nothing in this policy is intended to violate or circumvent applicable civil rights laws.

Grounds for Refusal of Service

Mox Archives and Games may refuse service, deny entry, or require an individual to leave the premises for reasons including, but not limited to:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or threatening behavior

  • Disruptive, unsafe, or disorderly conduct

  • Violation of store policies, event rules, or posted guidelines

  • Failure to comply with reasonable staff instructions

  • Damage to property or interference with business operations

  • Conduct that creates a hostile, unsafe, or uncomfortable environment

This policy applies to in-store activities, events, and store-managed online spaces, including community platforms such as Discord.

Temporary or Permanent Restrictions

At the discretion of ownership or management, actions taken may include:

  • Temporary refusal of service

  • Temporary or permanent bans from the premises

  • Removal from events or programs

  • Suspension or revocation of access to online communities

Restrictions may be imposed immediately when deemed reasonably necessary to protect the safety, operations, or community standards of the business.

Trespass Notice

Any individual who is refused service or banned and subsequently remains on or returns to the premises without permission may be considered trespassing under M.G.L. c. 266, § 120, and may be subject to removal or further legal action.

No Waiver of Rights

Mox Archives and Games does not waive any rights by providing notice or explanation and is not obligated to provide justification beyond what is required by law.

Reservation of Rights

Mox Archives and Games reserves all rights available under Massachusetts law, federal law, and applicable local ordinances. This policy may be amended at any time without prior notice.
